Kazane Höyük is an ancient settlement mound (höyük) located about 4 km southeast of Şanlıurfa. Studies of organic plant remains in the soil indicate that around the mid-third millennium BC the surrounding plain had dense vegetation of reeds, rushes and grasses, pointing to a wetter climate than today, with the nearby hills most likely forested.
