Editor's Note
Balbissa was a town of ancient Cappadocia that remained inhabited in Byzantine times. The name does not appear in ancient authors but is inferred from epigraphic and other evidence. Its site lies near Yaylaköy, about 15 km from the city of Niğde; a bishop of Balbissa, Leontius, was tried before the synod in Constantinople in 1143 on charges of Bogomilism.
