Editor's Note
Zelve sits on the northern slopes of Aktepe, about 5 km from Avanos. It contains a Byzantine-era monastery carved into the rock in pre-iconoclastic times and is today part of the Zelve Open Air Museum, located between Ürgüp and Avanos.
