Çakmaktepe is a hilltop settlement about 20 km southwest of Şanlıurfa, within the Koçören district of Eyyübiye, set on the Fatik (Cudi) Mountains plateau at roughly 670 m above sea level. The settlement, about 150 m in diameter, is surrounded by numerous sites dated to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic that lie only 2-3 km apart. With its favourable climate and environmental conditions, this region played an influential role in the transition of nomadic hunter-gatherer communities to settled life.
