Athyras was a Greek town in ancient Thrace on the coast of the Propontis (Sea of Marmara). The ancient site lies today near the Büyükçekmece district of Istanbul. Under the name Athyra it is a titular bishopric of both the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church.
