Kussara was a Middle Bronze Age city and small kingdom in Anatolia. Though apparently important at one time, it is mostly remembered today as the origin of the dynasty that would form the Old Hittite Kingdom.

The place the Hittite dynasty came from, and nobody knows where it is. Kuşşara is named as the home of Pithana and his son Anitta; Anitta took Neşa (Kaneş) and used the title Great King. It appears in the Old Assyrian trade tablets from Kültepe, in the Anitta text, and in the annals and testament of Hattušili I. Even after the capital moved to Hattuša, kings went on invoking their Kuşşara descent. Yet the city has never been found: Acemhöyük, the Elbistan plain, Şar, Alişar, Pınarbaşı and Altınyayla have all been proposed. The tablets put it east of Kaneş, outside the arc of the Kızılırmak.
