Editor's Note
Bezabde (Bazabde) was a fortress city on the eastern Roman frontier in the region of Zabdicene, within present-day Şırnak Province. It played a notable role in the 4th-century Roman-Persian wars and was besieged twice in AD 360. Despite stubborn resistance from three Roman legions and local archers, the Sasanians under Shapur II captured the city, and the counterattack led by Constantius II failed. Bezabde was ceded to the Sasanians under the Perso-Roman peace treaty of 363, after which it disappeared from the historical record.
