Editor's Note
Chalcedon was an ancient settlement on the sea in the Bithynia region of Anatolia, directly across from Byzantion, corresponding today to the Kadıköy district of Istanbul. Remains found in Kadıköy lie behind Haydarpaşa Station, and finds from the excavations are displayed in the Istanbul Archaeology Museum.
