The Sivas Archaeology Museum was built in 1914 by Governor Ahmed Muammer Bey as an industrial school workshop and opened as a museum in 1983. The largest archaeology museum in Central Anatolia, it displays mammal fossils nine million years old, Chalcolithic, Early Bronze Age and Hittite finds, and works from the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods.
