Editor's Note
Çemberlitaş Hamam is a classical Ottoman double bathhouse in the Fatih district of Istanbul. Built in 1584 at the wish of Nurbanu Sultan, wife of Selim II, it is attributed to the architect Mimar Sinan. With separate sections for men and women, it has largely kept its original form and is notable for its twelve-sided heated marble platform and marble decoration; part of it was demolished during 19th-century road widening.
