A son of Isparta, Süleyman Demirel is one of the most defining political figures in Turkey. Born in 1924, Demirel entered state service after training as an engineer and played a pioneering role in the country's modernization, serving as prime minister across nine terms. He then went on to serve as President. This monument dedicated to him in central Isparta has been made into one of the city's landmark sites by the municipality.
