Uludağ, formerly Keşiş Dağı, lies within Bursa province and at 2,543 metres is the highest mountain in the Marmara region as well as Turkey's largest winter and outdoor sports centre. Running northwest to southeast for about 40 km, it is 15-24 km wide. Its slopes facing Bursa are terraced, while those facing Orhaneli are steeper.
