Story

Bakacak, as its name suggests (meaning a place one looks out from), is a viewing terrace named for places that are gazed upon. Reflecting the historic fabric of Yildirim, this spot offers visitors Bursa's multi-layered Ottoman past and its natural beauty at the same time. The narrow streets, old wooden houses, and mutually supporting stone structures you pass while climbing to the terrace tell of the place's very old memory. Depending on which point in Bursa you look from, the snowy peaks of Uludag, the Inegol Mountains, and the city skyline are seen from different perspectives. For the local people, these terraced spots are social centers where conversation flows in the evening hours, where children play, and where seasonal celebrations are held. An interesting detail: in Ottoman times, the district of Yildirim was also a spiritual center, home to the lodge of the famous Pasha Baba.
