Yenikapı Square, officially the Istanbul Metropolitan Rally and Demonstration Area, is a roughly 673,000-square-metre plaza built on land reclaimed from the sea, stretching from Samatya to the Yenikapı ferry terminal. Construction began in 2012 and it was ready for use in 2014. With an average capacity of 1.5 million and a maximum of 2.5 million people, it hosts large rallies.
