Editor's Note
The Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque (also known as the Levent Mosque) is a modern mosque complex in the Levent neighbourhood of Istanbul's Beşiktaş district. Its design was inspired by Mimar Sinan's Süleymaniye Mosque, and maritime and shipping motifs were used in honour of Hayreddin Barbarossa and his Levend sailors, who gave the area its name. Comprising an underground car park, a workshop, a library, a multipurpose hall and a dining hall, the complex can hold up to 20,000 worshippers.
