Editor's Note
The Istanbul Armenian Genocide memorial, also called the 11 April Monument, is described as the first monument dedicated to the victims of the 1915 events. Erected in 1919 at the former Pangaltı Armenian Cemetery near Taksim Square, it was dismantled and subsequently lost in 1922 during the Turkish National Movement's entry into Istanbul.
