The Safrantı Castle Cistern lies to the southwest of Safrantı Castle, 6 kilometres north of the town of Kayapınar in the Felahiye district of Kayseri. The cistern was carved into the rock and is reached by a staircase. Although in some sources or local accounts this structure is mistakenly referred to as an underground city, it was most likely built as a cistern to meet the castle's water needs. During cleaning work carried out by the Kayseri Museum Directorate in 2008, about 100 metres of the cistern were uncovered, but it could not be cleared in full.
