Editor's Note
These are two dwellings built in the early 20th century. The western of the two was for many years the grocery shop of Tanaş Efendi, while the eastern one was used as a coffeehouse. The buildings later became a beer house during the British occupation, and after the founding of the Republic they served as a soup kitchen. For a time they were also used as the clubhouse of the Ümit Football Club; they were bought by Fahrettin Kerim Gökay, rebuilt in reinforced concrete, and converted back into dwellings. They stand opposite the Feneryolu Train Station.
