Ömer Efendi Çeşmesi ve Namazgahı

This way-station seen on the left side of the road forms a striking little ensemble. As can be understood from the fountain's inscription, this ensemble, built in AH 1186 (1772) by the chief steward of the galleon corps, Hacı Ömer Efendi, comprises a spacious open-air prayer area (namazgah), a fountain, a well, and a cemetery. From a now-effaced inscription it has been learned that this beautiful namazgah, evidently built with great care in every respect, was made by Kerestecizâde Mehmed. The namazgah is separated by a gap of 8.50 metres from the iron-railed cemetery.
