Virane Sinagoğu

The house of worship known as Virane or Kal de Ariva (the Upper Synagogue), on Yakup Street in the upper part of İcadiye Avenue, is thought to have been built in the 1840s. İbrahim Hakkı Konyalı gives the synagogue's construction date as 1884. This masonry synagogue, bordered by high courtyard walls on its south and west façades, is entered through its courtyard from Yakup Street, while its windows open onto Tenekeci Musa Street. Though it appears to be a single storey, the synagogue is in fact two storeys.
