Editor's Note
It opened for service in 1913. "During the British administration its director was an Englishman named Mr. Thomson. He lived on the upper floor of the telephone exchange. The building, then about half its present size, was extended in the 1940s by an addition built alongside it. This extension is easily noticed because its architectural character is different." (Kadıköy, the First Turkish Village in the Byzantine Metropolis, Dr. Müfid Ekdal, 1996)
