Editor's Note
It opened for worship in 1899. Wealthy members of the congregation contributed to its construction. Yitshak Roza undertook the marble work, and the jeweller Aronaçi de Leon donated the synagogue's great chandelier, removing it from his home in Moda. A twin of this chandelier hangs in Dolmabahçe Palace. Source: A Hundred Years of Our Life in Haydarpaşa.
