Surp Takavor Ermeni Kilisesi

We first encounter the name of this church in 1722. The church was initially called Surp Asdvadzadzin. During the time of Patriarch Abraham I, through the philanthropy of Harutyun Amira Noradungyan, the church was rebuilt and inaugurated in 1814. It also underwent a repair after the 1840 earthquake. Reduced to ashes in 1855, the church was rebuilt in masonry during the time of Patriarch Hagop III through the philanthropy of Hacı Garabed Ağa Muradyan of Erzurum. Inaugurated in 1858, the church has since then been known by the name Surp Takavor.
