Editor's Note
The institution, established by Abdülhamid II, moved to its present location in 1894. It served as the Military Medical School from 1903 to 1908, and as the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine from 1908 to 1933. In 1936 it was transferred to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey. It continues to function as a hospital today.
