Editor's Note
Now known as the Gülhane Training and Research Hospital (formerly the Gülhane Military Medical Academy, GATA), the institution was founded by Abdülhamit II in 1898 in Istanbul as the Gülhane Seririyat Hospital. The hospital was moved to Ankara in 1941 and today continues to operate as a teaching and research hospital in Etlik, Keçiören.
