Editor's Note
Construction date: AH 1206 / 1791-1792 CE. Its inscription reads: O Valide Sultan of benevolent nature, whose flowing bounty is the very source of grace; that is, the mother of His Majesty Sultan Selim, whose generosity flows freely to those thirsting for favor. Behold, with this fountainhead of kindnesses she has quenched the seekers of the world from every side. May God grant Hibetullah her reward, that her soul be ever joyful through her flowing charity. For she is its pure essence; while still a child she was a rosebud of the garden of paradise. To make it bloom fresh like a rose...
