Editor's Note
The Surp Santukht Church was built in the late 18th century. As the wooden church fell into ruin over time, it was renewed in 1816. That same year the church was demolished, its trustee Canig Amira was exiled, and the officials of the day were sentenced to the galleys. Later, by Canig Amira's bequest, the church was rebuilt in 1856, only to be reduced to ashes in 1972. Through the efforts of Patriarch Şınorhk it received a temporary repair and worship continued. In 1978 its final construction was carried out and it was reopened for worship by Patriarch Şınorhk.
