Editor's Note
It relates that Kızılca Bedreddin (Seyyid Bedreddin Efendi), the lodge's founder, was a deputy of Hacı Bayram and died during the conquest of Istanbul. Indeed, on a later-inscribed gravestone that stood until the 1990s in the cemetery of the Şehidlik Dervish Lodge above Rumeli Hisarı, the inscription read: "es-Seyyid eş-Şeyh Bedreddin, son of es-Seyyid eş-Şeyh Mahmud, son of es-Seyyid eş-Şeyh Mustafa, may his secret be sanctified, one of the companions of Akşemseddin, year 855." This date corresponds to two years before the conquest of Istanbul. Rumeli Hisarı, for its part, was built between March and August of 1452.
