Editor's Note
The Kavafyan Mansion is considered one of the oldest surviving traditional houses in Istanbul, dating from the 18th century. Built about twenty years after the Bebek neighborhood was first settled during the Tulip Era, it became a model for the village-style wooden architecture of the Bosphorus. It passed into the ownership of the Directorate General of Foundations in 1980.
