Editor's Note
It stands adjacent to the building in Bebek that today serves as the Egyptian Consulate General. Designed by the architect H. Kemali Söylemezoğlu, the building is said to offer a modernist interpretation that references the Bosphorus waterside mansions and to mark a transition from the historicist-nationalist current to the international modernist period. 1 It is the first yalı built on the Bosphorus after the founding of the Republic. 2
