Editor's Note
Also known as the Teşrifiye Mosque, the Küçük Mecidiye Mosque is an Ottoman-era mosque in Istanbul's Beşiktaş district. It was built in 1848 by Sultan Abdülmecid in the Baroque style by the court architects Garabet Amira Balyan and Nigoğos Balyan, and has a single minaret. Standing behind Çırağan Palace on the road linking Çırağan Avenue to Yıldız Park, the mosque has no settled congregation because there is no residential area nearby, and is popularly called the "Guest Mosque."
