Demirağ had planned to establish his aircraft factory in his hometown of Divriği. First he set up a trial workshop in Istanbul. The foundation of the factory building beside the Tomb of Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha in Beşiktaş was laid on September 17, 1936, and its construction was completed quickly.
