Nakkaştepe Cemetery lies within the Kuzguncuk neighborhood. It is a Muslim cemetery, maintained by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Situated to the northwest of the Kuzguncuk area, facing toward Beylerbeyi, the cemetery has several legends about the origin of its name. Although it is said to take its name from Nakkaş Baba, who is buried here, this Nakkaş Baba was, according to Mehmet Nermi Haskan, among the artisans Baba Nakkaş that Yavuz Sultan Selim brought from Tabriz after his war with the Safavids; by another account, Sultan I...
