Editor's Note
It stands within the Göztepe neighborhood, on Ömerpaşa Street, which forms the boundary between the Göztepe and Erenköy districts, directly across from Erenköy Girls' High School. It was built in January 1935 by Abdüllatif Nevzat Ayas (1889-1966), a philosophy teacher at Erenköy Girls' High School. Through considerable effort, Ayas had a separate branch tapped from the Kayışdağı Spring Water Line, which runs beneath the main avenue to the north (today's minibus road), and connected it to this fountain he built across from the school.
