The Tiryal Hanım Fountain in Büyük Çamlıca, renowned as the "sultan of waters," was one of the most important fountains of the Ottoman period. Its fame as a water of rare quality during the Ottoman era spread by word of mouth; the Tiryal Hanım Fountain lies at the foot of the Büyük Çamlıca Hill. Built in 1871 by Tiryal Hanım, the wife of Mahmud II, the fountain stands beside the Yusuf İzzeddin Efendi Mansion. The fountain was later repaired and its tank clad in marble.
