A few friends, together with partners they found, sought to invest the capital they held in an industrial enterprise. Among the many shareholders were Şevket Bey, the grandfather of the brothers Şevket and Orhan Pamuk, and Kâzım Arın. The company took the name Kendir ve Keten Sanayi Türk Anonim Şirketi (Hemp and Linen Industry Turkish Joint-Stock Company), approved by a decision of the Council of Ministers.
