A vaulted water channel found by chance in November 2015 during a foundation excavation on Faruk Ayanoğlu Avenue in Feneryolu must be one of the components of the system that carried water to Hiereia. Water came here from the north, from the direction of Alemdağ. In building the unearthed channel, lime mortar was used as a binder in the brick-laid side walls and the barrel vault. During the campaign to Syria, Heraclius, defeated by the Muslim armies at Ajnadayn in 634 and at the Battle of Yarmouk on 20 August 636, stayed in this palace. The 9th.
