Reşat Paşa Köşkü

Editor's Note

Construction of the mansion began in 1886 and was only completed 14 years later. Its architect was Ketebahu Mehmet Efendi. Ahmet Reşat Pasha was one of the first finance ministers to have completed his education in the West during the reign of Abdülhamid II. The Suadiye Mosque was built for his daughter Suat Hanım, who died young; this also formed the nucleus of today's Suadiye district. The selamlık (men's quarters) section of the mansion is private property, while the harem section is used as a restaurant.
