Editor's Note
Abdülhalim Mosque was built in 1860 by the Rufai Sheikh Seyyid Süleyman Abdülhalim Efendi as a Rufai lodge, and was converted into a mosque in 1926 when the dervish lodges and convents were closed. In the 1940s it was the only place of worship in Kozyatağı. In 1955, work began to repair its worn sections, and the present minaret was built to replace the wooden one that had become unusable. Because the mosque could no longer meet demand and could not be enlarged, the Kozyatağı Mehmet Çavuş Mosque was built right nearby in 1992 and opened for worship in 1997.
