Editor's Note
The French School was built during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II for nuns and was demolished in 1934. In 2015, the school's remains were uncovered during a construction excavation. "It was built in 1884 after the old Capuchin chapel was torn down. The nuns who came and settled here broke away in 1886 from their church in Kumkapı; together with Sister Augustine, sisters Alexandrine, Salome and Elizabeth of the Cross came to the area to keep their orders alive. They operated out of a primitive shack until their buildings were constructed. There was a chapel on the left side." Source: There Was a Fenerbahçe, Dr.
