Editor's Note
It was built by its first owner, Agasi Efendi; its date of construction is unknown. Over time it was used as the Hotel d'Angleterre and the Hotel New York. Among its tenants were such celebrated figures as Recaizade Mahmut Ekrem, Neyzen Tevfik, Saadettin Kaynak, Hafız Ferid, Tevfik Rüştü Aras, Adnan Menderes and Fatin Rüştü Zorlu.
