Editor's Note
A chain-driven Wagner-Meyer pendulum clock hangs in the entrance hall. Of the Twin Palaces (Çifte Saraylar), the Cemile Sultan Palace is the one nearer Molla Çelebi Mosque, to the north. The palace was completed six months after the wedding of Cemile Sultan, who had been married to Mahmut Celalettin Paşa. Living with her husband at the Egyptian İbrahim Paşa Waterside Mansion in Emirgan until construction was finished, Cemile Sultan moved into this palace from April 1859. In her later years she left the palace on her doctors' advice, living first in Göztepe and then in Erenköy.
