Editor's Note
It stands in the garden of the Taksim Esayan School, and the Pera Hospital once stood nearby. The first church here is thought to have been built of wood. Renovated in 1846, it was temporarily closed in 1890 over fears that it might collapse, and all the vestments and equipment inside were moved to the chapel beside the Surp Yerrortutyun Church. In 1895, during the tenure of Patriarch Madteos İzmirliyan, it was rebuilt in masonry by the brothers Hovhannes and Mıgırdiç Esayan, who at the same time built the Esayan School.
