Editor's Note
The cistern, aligned with the Topkapı Palace Basement I Cistern, contains 10 spolia columns and 8 piers. The interior of the cistern was altered during the Ottoman period. Because of its location and the other cisterns positioned around it, it is also thought to have been one of the substructure elements supporting a building. The cistern is believed to date to the 9th or 10th century.
