Editor's Note
One of the 20 works commissioned for the 50th anniversary of the Republic, the statue was made by Muzaffer Ertoran in 1973. The statue, which was attacked and repaired several times, was removed from its place during the shoreline rearrangements carried out by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2016, and its fate is unknown.
