Lider Çikolata was founded in Istanbul in 1954 as a chocolate workshop by the Ganapulos family. While struggling with the country's conditions and difficulties of the time, the family wished to popularise chocolate among the public, which until then only a certain segment consumed as a luxury treat, and sought to use the scarce raw cocoa (cocoa and cocoa butter) more effectively by combining it with a more readily available product.
