Editor's Note
The building is registered as a second-degree historic monument by the Conservation Board of the Ministry of Culture. It has a basement and three storeys, making four floors in total. Including later additions, the building has a footprint of 765 m², while the plot covers roughly 1,175 m². The Beyoğlu Telephone Exchange was built as a result of the late Ottoman drive toward Westernisation and the adoption of modern technologies. The company known as the Dersaadet Telephone Ottoman Joint-Stock Company brought the exchange into service in 1913.
