Editor's Note

Although the exact construction date is unknown, the building is shown as completed in the 1914 Goad Insurance Maps, and its construction may have begun in 1911-1912. It is recorded that during the occupation of Istanbul the French used the building as a police station, where it was known as the Muradiye Police Station. The building was restored through a project prepared by the architect Han Tümertekin, and its original architect is said to have been Vedat Tek.
