The church already existed in the 16th century. As is understood from a manuscript, a 1503 manuscript named "Üç Horan" and a deed bearing the imperial seal show that the church land had been purchased. In 1805 Krikor Amira Kevorkyan-Çerazyan, the trustee of the Galata Surp Lusavoriç Church, with the cooperation of community members, located the title deed for the purchase of the church land along with other manuscripts. Practically buying the land anew, he built the S. Etchmiadzin children's school. Later, with a firman he obtained, he converted the school into a church.
