Editor's Note
This remnant was uncovered during the construction of a business han and is thought to belong to a small cistern. It is likely datable to the Early Byzantine period, and it may be the remains of an infrastructure work or a structure related to the nearby Chalkoprateia Church. The absence of any cistern plaster inside the structure strengthens these possibilities. Moreover, since the structure resembles the hammam at Kalenderhane and the bath remains on Peykhane Street in Sultanahmet, it may also be the remains of a bathhouse.
